Research summary, not a hands-on test. Product claims on this page are attributed to the sources and dates shown. Before use, read the exact product label, the current safety data sheet and the application instructions, and confirm ventilation, protective equipment, occupant isolation and re-entry or reoccupancy conditions. A surface-burning classification alone does not establish approval to leave foam exposed or to use it in a particular assembly.

The claim, in the seller's words

The sheet says "Contains a special formula for pest protection" and "Helps block the entry of pests." The brand store says "Reinforced with an EPA-registered pesticide."
Kraken Bond technical data sheet SF 412, rev. 3, dated 4.9.2026; brand store

Where the line runs

Which side of the pesticide line this can's words fall on

Under 40 CFR 152.25(a), the exemption covers a pesticide that protects the treated article itself, which here is the foam. A can that says it keeps animals from chewing the foam needs no registration number of its own. A can that says it keeps animals out of your building has made a different claim, about the premises rather than the product, and that one the exemption does not cover.

Claims to protect the building

Contains a special formula for pest protection. Helps block the entry of pests.

The sheet does not say pesticide; the store does, and names no ingredient. Neither says the foam is what is protected: "block the entry of pests" is about what comes into the building, the same shape of claim as Sprayman's, so the words fall on the building side of the line with the target and the ingredient both unstated.

This is a reading of the maker's own words and nothing else. We have not tested this can, no maker in this category names its active ingredient, and the exemption also turns on that ingredient being registered for this use, which is the part nobody publishes. So this does not say a can is unlawful and we are in no position to say so. Every pest can in our set, side by side.

Our reading

The gun version, documented and thinly reviewed: nine ratings on the bare can. Notice that the sheet and the store describe the pest ingredient differently, "special formula" against "EPA-registered pesticide." That difference is worth a question to the brand before a contractor specifies it for a pest job.

  • Sheet and store describe the active ingredient differently.
  • Nine ratings on the anchor listing.

Kraken Bond showing the can in use

The maker's own footage, published on its own channel and embedded on its own product page. It shows how the can is meant to be applied; it is not a test and it is not evidence for any figure on this page. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play.

The film shows the foam going in through an applicator gun, which is this can, and the maker's own description names "PestSafe Professional Foam". Its title names neither can, and Kraken Bond attaches the same film to the 12.3 oz straw can as well, where the technique it shows does not apply.

Each displayed price is what that listing showed on the date printed in its row; ratings were read October 29, 2026. A pack with no price is one where the listing showed none, where the figure contradicted another variant, or where its last successful read passed the freshness window. Prices are snapshots, each dated where it appears, not live figures, so check the seller before you pay.

Jobs where a can from this category is part of the answer

These pages name the category rather than this particular can. Each one sets out the constraint that decides the product for that assembly, the code section that applies, a worked quantity example, and where foam is the wrong answer.

  • Attics As gaps and cracks foam. Top plates, wire holes, plumbing chases and the hatch perimeter are gap-filler work; Loctite Tite Foam and Kraken Bond Gaps & Cracks carry the clearest sheets.
  • Rim joists As gaps and cracks foam. For the sill-to-foundation joint and the wire and pipe holes through the rim, before the surface foam goes on.
  • Crawl spaces As pest block foam. Crawl spaces are where pest claims are sold hardest; the page explains why foam alone is not a rodent barrier and what the pesticide claims do not publish.
  • Sheds As pest block foam. Sheds get mice. The page explains what the pest claims do and do not publish, and why hardware cloth comes first. As gaps and cracks foam. Sheds leak at the sill and the corners; the sealant goes on first.
  • Metal Buildings As gaps and cracks foam. Every screw line, conduit, hydrant and vent through a steel skin is an air path. Sealing those is cheap and it is the part of the job that pays back fastest.
  • Pole Barns As gaps and cracks foam. Every screw line, hydrant, conduit and vent through the skin is an air path, and in a barn the eave and the sliding door jambs are the big ones. Sealing those is cheap and it pays back fastest.
  • Sound Control As gaps and cracks foam. The part of this job that reliably works. Outlet boxes on a shared wall, the gap where a pipe or duct crosses between rooms, the perimeter of a partition at the top plate. Cheap, checkable, and it removes the paths that make an assembly rating meaningless.

Kraken Bond has a right of reply

Everything on this page is a dated reading of documents that can change. If you make or sell this product, or you have read something here that is wrong, send the document. Every submission is read against the record; where it changes the record, the change is dated on the page, and where it does not, the reply says why. A submission cannot buy a position or remove a finding the documents still support, and what moves a record is written down.
