Stanley F993 Pest Block
The only pest sheet with a gap range, 1 to 3 in, and a pesticide statement in the sheet itself; the ingredient is not named.
3 of four things confirmed
These are the four things we could check for a pest block can, and nothing else. Not a performance score: nothing on this page was applied or tested by us. How the pest block page is ordered.
- Brand data sheeta technical data sheet is published by the brand
- Claim checkableThe sheet says the foam contains an EPA-registered pesticide that protects the foam from mice, which is treated-article language and needs no registration number of its own. The SDS lists 1,4-dichlorobenzene at 0.5 to 5 percent but does not identify it as the pesticide active ingredient, so the active ingredient remains unconfirmed.

Research summary, not a hands-on test. Product claims on this page are attributed to the sources and dates shown. Before use, read the exact product label, the current safety data sheet and the application instructions, and confirm ventilation, protective equipment, occupant isolation and re-entry or reoccupancy conditions. A surface-burning classification alone does not establish approval to leave foam exposed or to use it in a particular assembly.

The claim, in the seller's words
"Contains EPA-registered pesticide that protects foam from attack by mice and other pests." "Expands to fill, seal & insulate gaps from 1 in to 3 in." Where the line runs
Which side of the pesticide line this can's words fall on
Under 40 CFR 152.25(a), an article treated with a registered pesticide to protect the article itself is exempt from registration on its own. A can that says it keeps animals from chewing the foam is making exactly that claim, so it needs no registration number of its own and is doing nothing wrong. A can that says it keeps animals out of your building has made a different claim, about the premises rather than the product, and that one the exemption does not cover.
Protects the foam
Contains EPA-registered pesticide that protects foam from attack by mice and other pests. Protects the foam. That is the treated-article wording exactly, and the exemption covers it.
This is a reading of the maker's own words and nothing else. We have not tested this can, no maker in this category names its active ingredient, and the exemption also turns on that ingredient being registered for this use, which is the part nobody publishes. So this does not say a can is unlawful and we are in no position to say so. Every pest can in our set, side by side.

Our reading
The only pest can whose sheet prints a gap range, 1 to 3 in, and the only one with a "200+ bought in past month" badge on September 8. The pesticide statement sits in the technical sheet rather than only on a store page. Its SDS also lists 1,4-dichlorobenzene at 0.5 to 5 percent, but neither document says that substance is the active ingredient behind the pest claim. A 20 oz gun version, F993P, has its own sheet and no Amazon listing we could find.

Each displayed price is what that listing showed on the date printed in its row; ratings were read October 29, 2026. A pack with no price is one where the listing showed none, where the figure contradicted another variant, or where its last successful read passed the freshness window. Jobs where a can from this category is part of the answer
These pages name the category rather than this particular can. Each one sets out the constraint that decides the product for that assembly, the code section that applies, a worked quantity example, and where foam is the wrong answer.
- Attics As gaps and cracks foam. Top plates, wire holes, plumbing chases and the hatch perimeter are gap-filler work; Loctite Tite Foam and Kraken Bond Gaps & Cracks carry the clearest sheets.
- Rim joists As gaps and cracks foam. For the sill-to-foundation joint and the wire and pipe holes through the rim, before the surface foam goes on.
- Crawl spaces As pest block foam. Crawl spaces are where pest claims are sold hardest; the page explains why foam alone is not a rodent barrier and what the pesticide claims do not publish.
- Sheds As pest block foam. Sheds get mice. The page explains what the pest claims do and do not publish, and why hardware cloth comes first. As gaps and cracks foam. Sheds leak at the sill and the corners; the sealant goes on first.
- Metal Buildings As gaps and cracks foam. Every screw line, conduit, hydrant and vent through a steel skin is an air path. Sealing those is cheap and it is the part of the job that pays back fastest.
- Pole Barns As gaps and cracks foam. Every screw line, hydrant, conduit and vent through the skin is an air path, and in a barn the eave and the sliding door jambs are the big ones. Sealing those is cheap and it pays back fastest.
- Sound Control As gaps and cracks foam. The part of this job that reliably works. Outlet boxes on a shared wall, the gap where a pipe or duct crosses between rooms, the perimeter of a partition at the top plate. Cheap, checkable, and it removes the paths that make an assembly rating meaningless.

Stanley has a right of reply
Everything on this page is a dated reading of documents that can change. If you make or sell this product, or you have read something here that is wrong, send the document. Every submission is read against the record; where it changes the record, the change is dated on the page, and where it does not, the reply says why. A submission cannot buy a position or remove a finding the documents still support, and what moves a record is written down.
