Sprayman Pest Blocker Foam

The biggest pest seller, 1K+ bought; the sheet protects the foam in one sentence and blocks insects in the next, and names no ingredient.

3 of four things confirmed

These are the four things we could check for a pest block can, and nothing else. Not a performance score: nothing on this page was applied or tested by us. How the pest block page is ordered.

  • Brand data sheeta technical data sheet is published by the brand, without a date or revision on it
  • Claim checkableThe store claims a pesticide without naming the active ingredient, so there is nothing to look up. Without the ingredient we also cannot tell whether the claim sits inside the treated-article exemption or reaches past it, which is the point at which a registration number would be required.

Research summary, not a hands-on test. Product claims on this page are attributed to the sources and dates shown. Before use, read the exact product label, the current safety data sheet and the application instructions, and confirm ventilation, protective equipment, occupant isolation and re-entry or reoccupancy conditions. A surface-burning classification alone does not establish approval to leave foam exposed or to use it in a particular assembly.

The claim, in the seller's words

The brand store says the foam "contains an EPA-registered pesticide for blocking pests as rodent resistant insulation." The Amazon listing, under the name Pestblokc, makes no EPA statement.

Where the line runs

Which side of the pesticide line this can's words fall on

Under 40 CFR 152.25(a), the exemption covers a pesticide that protects the treated article itself, which here is the foam. A can that says it keeps animals from chewing the foam needs no registration number of its own. A can that says it keeps animals out of your building has made a different claim, about the premises rather than the product, and that one the exemption does not cover.

Claims to protect the building

contains an EPA-registered pesticide for blocking pests as rodent resistant insulation

Blocking pests, not protecting the foam. That is a claim about the building. The maker's own data sheet straddles the line in two consecutive sentences: the pesticide "protects the foam from attack by mice, birds, bats and tree squirrels," which is the exempt claim, and then "it also blocks ants, roaches, spiders and bees," which is not. The store keeps only the second half.

This is a reading of the maker's own words and nothing else. We have not tested this can, no maker in this category names its active ingredient, and the exemption also turns on that ingredient being registered for this use, which is the part nobody publishes. So this does not say a can is unlawful and we are in no position to say so. Every pest can in our set, side by side.

Our reading

The biggest seller in the pest set: 674 ratings and "1K+ bought" on the 12-pack in the September 7 intake, and a "500+ bought in past month" badge on the single can on September 8. The claim that sells it, a pesticide inside the foam, is still the one a buyer cannot check. The data sheet does not help with that either: it names no active ingredient and no registration number. What it does add is the working end of the can and one sentence that matters more than any figure on it, because the sheet makes the exempt claim and the non-exempt claim one after the other.

Still open

  • EPA registration number and active ingredient published nowhere, including on the sheet; we have not seen the can label.
  • The sheet carries no date or revision.
  • Three ASINs for the 12-pack at one price split the feedback base.

Each displayed price is what that listing showed on the date printed in its row; ratings were read October 29, 2026. A pack with no price is one where the listing showed none, where the figure contradicted another variant, or where its last successful read passed the freshness window. Jobs where a can from this category is part of the answer

These pages name the category rather than this particular can. Each one sets out the constraint that decides the product for that assembly, the code section that applies, a worked quantity example, and where foam is the wrong answer.

  • Attics As gaps and cracks foam. Top plates, wire holes, plumbing chases and the hatch perimeter are gap-filler work; Loctite Tite Foam and Kraken Bond Gaps & Cracks carry the clearest sheets.
  • Rim joists As gaps and cracks foam. For the sill-to-foundation joint and the wire and pipe holes through the rim, before the surface foam goes on.
  • Crawl spaces As pest block foam. Crawl spaces are where pest claims are sold hardest; the page explains why foam alone is not a rodent barrier and what the pesticide claims do not publish.
  • Sheds As pest block foam. Sheds get mice. The page explains what the pest claims do and do not publish, and why hardware cloth comes first. As gaps and cracks foam. Sheds leak at the sill and the corners; the sealant goes on first.
  • Metal Buildings As gaps and cracks foam. Every screw line, conduit, hydrant and vent through a steel skin is an air path. Sealing those is cheap and it is the part of the job that pays back fastest.
  • Pole Barns As gaps and cracks foam. Every screw line, hydrant, conduit and vent through the skin is an air path, and in a barn the eave and the sliding door jambs are the big ones. Sealing those is cheap and it pays back fastest.
  • Sound Control As gaps and cracks foam. The part of this job that reliably works. Outlet boxes on a shared wall, the gap where a pipe or duct crosses between rooms, the perimeter of a partition at the top plate. Cheap, checkable, and it removes the paths that make an assembly rating meaningless.

Sprayman has a right of reply

Everything on this page is a dated reading of documents that can change. If you make or sell this product, or you have read something here that is wrong, send the document. Every submission is read against the record; where it changes the record, the change is dated on the page, and where it does not, the reply says why. A submission cannot buy a position or remove a finding the documents still support, and what moves a record is written down.
