Stanley F990P SuperCoat 24-Pack Kit Review

Class A fire rated, and the fullest document file of any kit in the numbered order: a technical data sheet dated 25.03.2025, rev. 1, and a safety data sheet beside it, both on stanleychem.com's own documents page. BEEST publishes a safety sheet too, on a page its listing does not link, and TYTAN publishes both documents on its US product page. Stanley licenses the name and Nucleus Inc. distributes the product, which the printed manual states. One thing to know: that sheet carries no fire section, so the Class A rests on the listing and on a fire test report Stanley customer support sent when we asked and which we matched to the product.

Research summary, not a hands-on test. Product claims on this page are attributed to the sources and dates shown. Before use, read the exact product label, the current safety data sheet and the application instructions, and confirm ventilation, protective equipment, occupant isolation and re-entry or reoccupancy conditions. A surface-burning classification alone does not establish approval to leave foam exposed or to use it in a particular assembly. Included protective items may not meet every requirement for your job; select ventilation and protective equipment from the exact product instructions and the exposure conditions, not from what the box contains.

What to check first

Two things to know before the price. A proper GHS-US safety data sheet with a named supplier and an emergency line, sitting on the maker’s own documents page beside a dated, revision-numbered technical sheet. Four kits in the numbered order publish a safety sheet somewhere on their own site, and this is one of the two that put it next to the technical sheet, where a buyer will actually find it.

And the technical sheet contains no fire section at all. No standard, no index, no thickness. The listing and the printed manual both say Class A fire-rated. Stanley customer support sent a test report when we asked for it, carrying the brand name and both indices, and we matched it to the product sold. The seller does not publish it, so neither do we, and our score counts it a point under a result you could read before buying. If the fire rating is the reason you are buying, write and ask for that report first.

The Stanley name on the can is a trademark of Stanley Black and Decker used under license, and the product is distributed by Nucleus Inc. of Chantilly, Virginia. The manual says so on its first page. Nothing wrong with that, and worth knowing before you assume who stands behind the product.

Technical data sheet 12 / 12 A data sheet dated 25.03.2025 rev. 1, published on the maker’s own documents page, naming the product as F 990P.
Safety data sheet 6 / 6 A safety data sheet on the same documents page as the technical sheet, which only TYTAN also manages: GHS-US, issue date 17.07.2023, supplier Nucleus Incorporated, with a CHEMTREC emergency line and OSHA exposure limits.
Fire evidence 11 / 12 Nothing on the maker’s own paperwork: the data sheet has no fire section at all, no standard, no index and no thickness, and the printed manual does not mention fire either. What exists is a test report that Stanley customer support sent when our desk asked for it, carrying the brand name and both surface-burning indices, which we matched to the product being sold. That is the second tier of this criterion and scores one point below a result a buyer could read before buying. A buyer who wants it has to ask for it, which is the point the score is making.

Density published 0 / 4 No density or specific gravity on this sheet. The 0.94 plus or minus 0.06 lb/ft3 under ASTM D1622 in this set is printed on the Akfix ThermCoat sheet only and is not transferred here: the two sheets share the conductivity, R-value, compression and yield lines, and this one prints a tack-free time of 5 plus or minus 2 minutes under ASTM C1620 where the Akfix sheet prints a tack-free time of 4, and nothing from either maker says the two cans hold one formulation. Read 2026-09-14.
Maker identity 4 / 4 Both tests are met. The product’s own document names the Stanley Black & Decker license and the distributor, Nucleus Inc. of Chantilly, Virginia, with a phone number. And stanleychem.com is a corporate site, separate from any shop, carrying a catalog of 102 documents.

Marketplace rating and buying signal 8.3 / 15 4.4 from 298 Amazon ratings on the pack this page compares, read 2026-09-12, worth 4.3 of the seven rating points. One pack-size listing in the Amazon variation family of the 24-can kit, ASIN B0G6M9DV8Z, carries a bought-in-past-month badge, the 24-can set at 100+, so the sum is 100, which is the 4-point band. 16 of the 18 listings in the family were read on 2026-09-12; Amazon served a bot check for the other 2, which are unknown rather than zero.
Brand store rating, weighted by verified count 0 / 5 Stanley sells through retailers rather than direct, so there is no store review base to read.

Why this confidence level · editorial opinion, not a test result

The documents are there and we have asked the seller something we have not had an answer to. A dated technical sheet and a proper GHS-US safety data sheet, with a named supplier and an emergency line, on the maker’s own documents page. The fire result is the odd one out: the technical sheet has no fire section at all, no standard, no index, no thickness, and the manual read end to end on 2026-09-11 mentions fire only in the aerosol safety lines, while the listing says Class A fire-rated. Stanley customer support sent the test report when our desk asked for it, carrying the brand name and both indices, and we matched it to the product being sold. That is what this line now scores, one point under a result a buyer could have read before buying. Be plain about what that means for you: without writing to support, a buyer cannot see the evidence behind the Class A wording at all. The manual also states that the Stanley name is used under license and that the product is distributed by Nucleus Inc.

Scored on . The score is what the documents support; the confidence level is our view of that evidence and never changes the arithmetic. How the rating is built · All 13 scored side by side.

How the manufacturer describes it

The following is compiled from the manufacturer’s own statements on its technical and safety data sheets, its printed manual and its marketplace listings. It is presented as the brand describes the product. We have not tested it and we do not adopt these claims.

  • A one-component, moisture-cured closed-cell polyurethane foam for walls, roofs, floors, ceilings, foundations, rim joists, crawl spaces, attics, garages, ducts, tanks, vehicles and boats, applied with an applicator gun.
  • Two nozzles per can, nozzle A for walls and nozzle B for ceilings; clean the gun and nozzle immediately after use.
  • A stated yield of up to 20 board feet at 1 inch in one layer from about 16 inches, shown on a coverage chart where 24 cans give 480 square feet at 1 inch or 240 square feet at 2 inches.
  • R-5.66 per 1-inch layer and R-11.32 at 2 inches, with two layers recommended and the first fully cured before the second.
  • Application and can temperature of 41 to 86 F, a 24-hour full cure and a cutting time of 40 minutes or less.
  • Lightly mist the surface with water before spraying and between layers for adhesion and curing.

The FastCoat, SprayCoat, ThermCoat and SuperCoat documents state the same yield basis of 20 board feet at 1 inch, the same nozzle A for walls and nozzle B for ceilings, the same 1-inch layer advice with water misting between coats, and the same 24-hour cure with a 40-minute cutting time. The SprayCoat and ThermCoat data sheets also carry the same packaging line, 28.7 oz at a gross 2.05 lb with 12 to a box. We record that pattern and draw no conclusion from it: none of the four states a relationship with the others, and we have not established who manufactures any of them.

What the differences mean

A data sheet with no fire section under a fire-rated name

The technical data sheet, rev. 1 dated 25.03.2025, lists basis, cure, yield, conductivity, R-value, compression strength, dimensional stability, tack-free and cutting times and temperatures. It contains no fire test, no standard, no index and no thickness. The Amazon title says Fire Rated and the printed manual says Class A fire-rated.

Why it matters. A fire claim on the box with no numbers in the maker’s own document is a gap the rating marks down: the fire score rests on a test report Stanley customer support sent on request, one tier below a result printed on a sheet a buyer can open before buying. The fix is the one the FastCoat sheet already shows: print the standard, the thickness and both indices on the data sheet.

A safety data sheet on the same page as the technical sheet

A GHS-US safety data sheet with an issue date of 17.07.2023, supplier Nucleus Incorporated of Chantilly, Virginia, a CHEMTREC emergency number, OSHA exposure limits and hazard classifications for the pressurized product, including flammable aerosol category 1.

Why it matters. This is the document that tells a user what is in the can, what the hazards are and what to do in an emergency. None of the other four ranked kits publishes one on any channel we read. The aerosol flammability classification describes the pressurized can, not cured foam, and should not be confused with a fire rating either way.

Sources: Stanley F990P safety data sheet, issue date 17.07.2023

A licensed name and a named distributor

The manual states that the Stanley name, logo and packaging design are trademarks of Stanley Black and Decker used under license, and that the product is distributed by Nucleus Inc., Chantilly, Virginia. The safety data sheet names the same company as supplier.

Why it matters. A buyer who assumes a Stanley Black and Decker product is buying a licensed brand from a separate distributor. The manufacturer itself says so, which is more than most brands in this category disclose, and it is the company to contact with a question.

Amazon and Walmart match on the 24-can kit

On September 7, 2026 the 24-can kit was 324.95 dollars on Amazon and in the Walmart variant family. Walmart also lists a foam-only 24-pack at 299.95 and both forms at every other size.

Why it matters. With no brand store open yet, these two are the channels, and they agree. Choose on delivery and returns.

Product overview

Stanley markets the F990P SuperCoat as a closed-cell DIY kit for walls and attics, Class A fire rated, sold with a gun, cleaner and safety items. Stanley publishes the technical and safety data sheets for it on its own documents page; the product is distributed by Nucleus Inc. under license.

Reviews on the brand’s own shop

Stanley sells through retailers rather than direct, so there is no brand store to read.

The highest share of satisfied buyers among the closed-cell mains, with one notable cell-type dispute.

Stands out: Repeated as-advertised, whole-garage DIY jobs at a fraction of pro cost.

Buyers praise

  • Consistently worked as advertised and easy for first-timers
  • Name-brand trust cited as the reason for choosing it
  • Strong value versus hiring the job out

Buyers complain

  • One widely-upvoted buyer reports it cured open-cell despite a closed-cell listing
  • Trimming cured overspray is tedious
  • Real yield near ~20 board feet per can, below some expectations

Buyer tip: Do not overfill wall bays - buyers warn trimming is the worst part of the job.

The pack this page compares carries no rating of its own. What stands out

  • A dated technical sheet and a safety data sheet on one documents page
  • Competitive price positioning
  • A bought-in-past-month badge on the 24-can Amazon listing, read September 12, 2026

Open questions

  • The published technical sheet carries no fire section
  • Amazon did not show a complete 24-can kit in the October 29 read; the purchase link therefore goes to the verified 24-can Walmart kit rather than a cheaper foam-only Amazon pack

Questions and answers

Questions about Stanley F990P SuperCoat 24-Pack Kit

Answered from this product’s documents and listings, the same records the rest of this page is built from.

Ask your own
  1. Is Stanley SuperCoat closed-cell or open-cell? From the records

It is listed as closed-cell, but one widely-upvoted buyer reports it cured open-cell on their job. Exact-product cell structure is one thing we have not been able to confirm, so verify before a critical application.

  2. Where do I buy it - is there a direct store? From the records

It is a marketplace-only brand with no brand-owned store, so Amazon is the practical channel and covers returns.

  3. How much overspray trimming should I expect? From the records

Buyers warn trimming cured foam is the worst part; avoid overfilling wall bays to save trimming time.
