Kraken Bond FastCoat 24-Pack Review
FastCoat holds the top of the order because it is the only kit here whose documentation block scores full marks. Its data sheet carries a date and a revision, the yield with its conditions, and the surface-burning result with both indices at 2 inches, and a thirteen-page safety data sheet names the company behind it. The 24-can kit is the one to compare. Two things are worth knowing before you order. Its wide-spray cans are counted nowhere in the 480 board feet on the label, so the pack covers more than it says. And the fire result is backed twice: the sheet prints it, and we have seen the test report behind it, which Kraken Bond does not publish, so neither do we.

Research summary, not a hands-on test. Product claims on this page are attributed to the sources and dates shown. Before use, read the exact product label, the current safety data sheet and the application instructions, and confirm ventilation, protective equipment, occupant isolation and re-entry or reoccupancy conditions. A surface-burning classification alone does not establish approval to leave foam exposed or to use it in a particular assembly. Included protective items may not meet every requirement for your job; select ventilation and protective equipment from the exact product instructions and the exposure conditions, not from what the box contains.

ThermaFoam Wide Spray: what the box carried
Update, October 10, 2026: Kraken Bond no longer appears to put the wide-spray cans in the box, and its store description no longer mentions them. What follows is what the kit came with from September 13, 2026; check the listing’s contents before you count on them.
From the 18-can kit upward, Kraken Bond puts ThermaFoam Wide Spray cans in the box at no change to the pack price: one in the 18, two in the 24, and more as the pack grows. It is a different can, 16 oz with a fan nozzle rather than a gun, and the maker rates each one at up to 10 board feet at 1 inch and the same R-5.66 an inch as the foam beside it. The 480 board feet printed on the 24-pack counts the 24 FastCoat cans and nothing else, so the two wide-spray cans are up to 20 board feet on top of it rather than part of it.
Research desk note · editorial opinion, not a test result
What to check first
The fire statement on this sheet is complete as published, and it is the only complete one that also carries a date and a revision number. The sheet names the standard, the tested thickness and both indices: ASTM E84 and UL 723, evaluated at 2 inches, flame spread 15 or less with smoke developed 40 or less. Two other sheets in the set print the same result as fully, SprayCoat and ThermCoat, and neither of those carries a date, so there is no telling which version you are holding. Class A needs both indices, and most listings in this category publish one or none. Behind it sits a fire test report we have seen; Kraken Bond does not publish it, so we do not publish it either.
Buy from the listing you can identify. Walmart search results in this category mix the brand’s own variant family with separate third-party listings of the same product, so check the item number and the seller against the ladder below rather than trusting the first result.

How the manufacturer describes it
The following is compiled from the manufacturer’s own published statements on its data sheet, its official product page and its marketplace listings. It is presented as the brand describes the product. We have not tested it and we do not adopt these claims.
- A single-component, moisture-cured closed-cell polyurethane foam applied with an applicator gun, described as containing no ozone-depleting propellant gases.
- Two nozzles per can: the data sheet describes nozzle A for vertical surfaces and nozzle B for ceilings, with spray distances of 12 to 18 inches on walls and 12 to 16 inches overhead.
- A stated yield of up to 20 board feet at 1-inch thickness in a single layer, sprayed from about 16 inches at normal speed.
- Application and can temperature of 41 to 86 F, with a recommended can temperature of 68 F. The sheet notes that lower temperatures may reduce yield and lengthen cure, and that the quality and condition of the gun can affect performance and yield.
- Packaging of 27.1 oz net weight per can, 12 cans per box, an 18-month shelf life and storage between 41 and 77 F in a dry environment.
- Class A fire performance tested to ASTM E84 and UL 723, evaluated at 2 inches, with a flame spread index of 15 or less and a smoke developed index of 40 or less.

The FastCoat, SprayCoat, ThermCoat and SuperCoat documents state the same yield basis of 20 board feet at 1 inch, the same nozzle A for walls and nozzle B for ceilings, the same 1-inch layer advice with water misting between coats, and the same 24-hour cure with a 40-minute cutting time. The SprayCoat and ThermCoat data sheets also carry the same packaging line, 28.7 oz at a gross 2.05 lb with 12 to a box. We record that pattern and draw no conclusion from it: none of the four states a relationship with the others, and we have not established who manufactures any of them.

What the differences mean
The fire statement is complete on the data sheet and thin on the listings
The data sheet names ASTM E84 and UL 723, a 2-inch evaluated thickness and both indices. Neither marketplace listing repeats the indices or the thickness; they say fire rated or Class A.
Why it matters. The document is the thing to keep. A shopper reading only the listing sees a badge, while the evidence that makes it meaningful sits in a file the listing does not link.

R-value published three ways again
The official page states R-5.66 per inch and R-11.32 at 2 inches. The Amazon title states 11.32 at 2 inches. Walmart’s specification field states 5.66 against an insulation thickness of 1 inch.
Why it matters. A per-inch figure is the form the FTC R-value Rule restricts on insulation labels and ads, and 11.32 is 5.66 doubled rather than a second measurement. We report each value at the thickness it was reported at and convert neither.

Board feet described as square feet
The data sheet states up to 20 board feet per can at 1 inch, so 24 cans is 480 board feet. The Amazon title and coverage field both say 480 sq ft, while the same title advertises an R-value at 2 inches.
Why it matters. At 1 inch the two figures coincide. At the 2-inch layer the title advertises, 480 board feet finishes about 240 square feet. Read the unit, then read the thickness it belongs to.

An extension hose appears in the photographs and in no contents list
The current product images show a flexible extension hose that fits the applicator gun tip, for reaching into cavities and awkward corners. The Amazon contents field lists 24 cans, 2 cleaners, 2 wide spray cans, a gun and safety gear, and names no hose. The official description does not mention one either.
Why it matters. If it is in the box it is a genuine advantage on rim joists, wall cavities and anywhere the gun barrel will not reach, and it is the kind of thing that decides between two otherwise similar kits. Photographs are not a packing list, so confirm it with the seller for the pack you are ordering rather than assuming it. This is the same caution we apply to the wide spray cans, which are also shown in the images.

The same kit is priced identically on all three channels
On September 7, 2026 the 24-can kit was 369.99 dollars on the official store, 369.99 on Amazon and 369.99 in the Walmart variant family. The foam-only 24-can box was 334.99 on both the official store and Walmart. Across the sizes both channels list, the official and Walmart ladders match to the cent apart from the 48 and 192-can boxes.
Why it matters. Where a brand holds one price across its own store and both marketplaces, the channel choice is about stock, delivery and returns rather than money. That is unusual enough in this category to be worth stating.

In the box
- 24 foam cans
- 1 applicator gun
- 2 foam cleaners
- 2 wide spray cans
- Safety gear
- An extension hose for the gun tip, visible in the product images but not listed in any written contents
Included protective equipment is close to standard across the kits in this category, so it is rarely a reason to choose one over another. The two wide spray cans are a different product with their own labeled use; they finish seams and openings and their output is not part of this kit’s board-foot claim.

Amazon carries the largest verified-buyer history and the easiest returns - useful here, because the most common complaint is cans arriving solid or unusable. The Kraken store adds direct support but a smaller review trail.

Product overview
Kraken Bond positions FastCoat as an easy, professional-grade DIY closed-cell foam. The manufacturer lists a Class A rating to ASTM E84 and UL 723 at a 2-inch thickness, and a closed-cell seal against air, moisture and noise. A surface-burning result is not the same thing as code compliance for an assembly, which is a question about ignition barriers and the room the foam is in. The 24-can kit is the variant we compare.
Manufacturer-stated features
- Closed-cell; R-5.66 per inch, stated as R-11.32 at 2 in on the same sheet - manufacturer claim
- Up to 20 board feet per can - theoretical
- Class A fire rated to ASTM E84 - manufacturer
- For walls, ceilings, attics, garages, HVAC systems and vehicles
- 24-can kit, with 2 ThermaFoam Wide Spray cans in the box that the 480 board feet does not count; likely no longer included as of October 10, 2026
Overview synthesized from the brand’s official page and the Amazon listing. Specifications are manufacturer claims, not independently verified.
The 24-pack’s claimed 480 board feet is about a small garage or shed at roughly 1 inch. Buyer feedback runs below the per-can claim, so treat 480 as a ceiling and budget extra cans.

Reviews on the brand’s own shop, and how many carry the verified-purchase label
Almost all of these carry the verified-purchase label
275 of 283 reviews on krakenbond.net are matched to an order in that shop. The other 8 are not.
275 of the 283 reviews carry the platform’s verified-purchase label, almost all of them, and it is the largest verified count of any brand store in this set. The 4.66 is averaged over all 283.
A shop’s own star rating is the number its seller controls most completely. This is how much of it the review platform could match to a real order placed in that shop. Verified means the platform matched the review to an order in that shop. Unverified does not mean false: it can be a buyer who ordered on a marketplace, a review imported from another platform, or one collected outside the shop’s checkout. Which of those applies is not published, so a reader cannot tell. Counted one page at a time on September 12, 2026.
Positive but polarized: strong results on real jobs, offset by a recurring group who received dud cans.
Stands out: Several buyers cite replacing professional-install quotes many times the kit’s cost - one mentions an $8,000 quote avoided.
Buyers praise
- Real cost savings versus hiring a pro installer
- Included PPE and gun rated usable out of the box
- Works well on basements, crawl spaces and cabin roofs when the cans are good
Buyers complain
- Recurring reports of cans arriving solid or unusable
- Reports that real coverage falls short of the 20 board feet a can claim
- Application is messy with a learning curve
Buyer tip: Buyer reviews include improvised conditioning and substrate-prep advice. Do not treat it as product instructions; follow the exact current label and technical data sheet for product temperature, substrate preparation and application limits.

Questions and answers
Questions about Kraken Bond FastCoat 24-Pack
Answered from this product’s documents and listings, the same records the rest of this page is built from.
-
How much does the Kraken FastCoat 24-pack really cover? From the records
The 24-pack claims 480 board feet at about 1 inch, but buyer reviews consistently land below the per-can figure. Budget extra cans and treat 480 as a theoretical ceiling.
-
What is the difference in the 24-pack versus the 12-pack? From the records
The 12-pack is the most-chosen size for smaller jobs. The 24-pack is the one we compare, and Kraken Bond adds ThermaFoam Wide Spray cans from the 18-can kit upward at no change to the pack price, one in the 18 and two in the 24; the 12-pack ships none. Each wide-spray can covers up to 10 board feet at 1 inch, on top of the 480 the label counts. As of October 10, 2026 Kraken Bond no longer appears to include them, so check the listing’s contents before counting on them.
-
Is the fire rating verified? From the records
The data sheet prints both surface-burning indices at a 2-inch thickness, flame spread 15 or less and smoke developed 40 or less, to ASTM E84 and UL 723. We have also seen the fire test report behind that result. Kraken Bond does not publish the report on its site, so we do not publish it either.

Jobs where this kit is one of the products we list
Each of these pages sets out the constraint that decides the product for that assembly, the code section that applies, and a worked quantity example.
- Walls The best-documented kit in the ranking, 480 board feet claimed at 1 in, with the stated conditions behind the per-can figure. The R-5.66 per inch claim comes from a conductivity method with no aging basis, which the product page says.
- Rim joists A 12-pack claims 240 board feet, which covers the worked example below at 1 in; at the 2 in the example is sized for, 281 board feet, it takes the 24-pack. Enough for a typical basement perimeter at 2 in; the fire report behind its claim is still an open question on the product page.
Kraken Bond has a right of reply
Everything on this page is a dated reading of documents that can change. If you make or sell this product, or you have read something here that is wrong, send the document. Every submission is read against the record; where it changes the record, the change is dated on the page, and where it does not, the reply says why. A submission cannot buy a position or remove a finding the documents still support, and what moves a record is written down.
