Kraken Bond Extreme Fire Block

Dated sheet with both UL 723 indices, flame spread 10 and smoke 15, and a bead yield for each can size it sells. That is a surface-burning result, not a fireblocking test.

2 of four things confirmed

These are the four things we could check for a fire block can, and nothing else. Not a performance score: nothing on this page was applied or tested by us. How the fire block page is ordered.

  • Brand data sheeta technical data sheet is published by the brand
  • Claim checkableThe dated sheet prints a full UL 723 result, flame spread 10 and smoke developed 15, which is more than most of this set publishes. It is still a surface-burning test. The product page cites ICC-ES listing ESL-1058, which names this foam for surface burning at a 1/2 in bead; no through-penetration or room-corner test stands behind the fireblocking claim itself.

Research summary, not a hands-on test. Product claims on this page are attributed to the sources and dates shown. Before use, read the exact product label, the current safety data sheet and the application instructions, and confirm ventilation, protective equipment, occupant isolation and re-entry or reoccupancy conditions. A surface-burning classification alone does not establish approval to leave foam exposed or to use it in a particular assembly.

Our reading

One of six fire block sheets in the intake that print both surface-burning indices under a named standard, with Sprayman’s undated Fire Stop sheet, Stanley’s F952 sheet and three dated TYTAN sheets. This one is dated and names both cans it sells, and it is the only sheet here that states a bead yield for each of two can sizes on one page, 2,240 ft from the 20.3 fl oz can and 1,493 from the 13.5. That is the shape of a checkable claim. What it still lacks is the tested thickness and a fireblocking test: the ICC-ES listing its product page cites, ESL-1058, covers surface burning only. The brand also sells a gun-grade "Xtreme Pro" fire block (FR 202) that claims Class A to ASTM E84 with a 1/4 to 3 in gap range; we have not matched it to an Amazon listing.

Still open

  • No tested thickness, laboratory or report number on the sheet.
  • The 24 oz "cleaner included" listings had no ratings on September 7.

Each displayed price is what that listing showed on the date printed in its row; ratings were read October 29, 2026. A pack with no price is one where the listing showed none, where the figure contradicted another variant, or where its last successful read passed the freshness window. Prices are snapshots, each dated where it appears, not live figures, so check the seller before you pay.

3 of the 9 listings below showed no purchase option on October 29, 2026, so they carry no price.

Jobs where a can from this category is part of the answer

These pages name the category rather than this particular can. Each one sets out the constraint that decides the product for that assembly, the code section that applies, a worked quantity example, and where foam is the wrong answer.

  • Attics As fire block foam. Where a penetration between floors is a fireblocking location, the orange can needs a real surface-burning result; the fire block page sorts the claims. As gaps and cracks foam. Top plates, wire holes, plumbing chases and the hatch perimeter are gap-filler work; Loctite Tite Foam and Kraken Bond Gaps & Cracks carry the clearest sheets.
  • Garages As fire block foam. Penetrations through the separation wall are where a fireblocking claim is actually asked for.
  • Rim joists As gaps and cracks foam. For the sill-to-foundation joint and the wire and pipe holes through the rim, before the surface foam goes on.
  • Sheds As gaps and cracks foam. Sheds leak at the sill and the corners; the sealant goes on first.
  • Metal Buildings As gaps and cracks foam. Every screw line, conduit, hydrant and vent through a steel skin is an air path. Sealing those is cheap and it is the part of the job that pays back fastest.
  • Pole Barns As gaps and cracks foam. Every screw line, hydrant, conduit and vent through the skin is an air path, and in a barn the eave and the sliding door jambs are the big ones. Sealing those is cheap and it pays back fastest.
  • Sound Control As gaps and cracks foam. The part of this job that reliably works. Outlet boxes on a shared wall, the gap where a pipe or duct crosses between rooms, the perimeter of a partition at the top plate. Cheap, checkable, and it removes the paths that make an assembly rating meaningless.

Kraken Bond has a right of reply

Everything on this page is a dated reading of documents that can change. If you make or sell this product, or you have read something here that is wrong, send the document. Every submission is read against the record; where it changes the record, the change is dated on the page, and where it does not, the reply says why. A submission cannot buy a position or remove a finding the documents still support, and what moves a record is written down.
