A buyer's question, answered from the records

Is spray foam made in the USA?

The short answer

5 of the 14 spray foam kits we track describe their seller as American owned, family-owned or US-based on its store or its listing, and none of those 5 says where its foam is made. 3 of the 14 do say where the foam is made or who makes it. Owning a company and making a product are different statements: the FTC holds an unqualified Made in USA claim to the product being "all or virtually all" made in the U.S., and it reads a label by "the overall impression" it gives.

What the records show

What each spray foam kit says about who sells it and where it is made

Read on October 18, 2026 from each seller's store, its Amazon listing and the documents on file, quoted as written. A blank in the second or third column means we read those places and the words were not there.

American owned describes the company, not the foam

A seller can be owned by an American family, answer the phone from an American office and ship from an American warehouse while the foam in the can is made somewhere else, and none of those statements would be untrue. They say who sells the product. Where the product is made is a separate question, and it is the one a Made in USA label answers.

The FTC writes the rule for that second question. Its guide, Complying with the Made in USA Standard, says an unqualified claim needs the product to be "all or virtually all" made in the U.S., and that the agency looks at "the overall impression" a label or an ad conveys. It names "U.S. flags, outlines of U.S. maps" among the symbols that "may convey a claim of U.S. origin either by themselves, or in conjunction with other phrases or images." It also says an American brand name on its own is not such a claim, and neither is a company’s U.S. address listed "in a non-prominent way." The guide does not say whether a line such as American owned is one, and this page does not decide that either.

The same badges on four stores

BEEST’s store sets "AMERICAN OWNED. BUILT TO PERFORM." over "BEEST USA is a family-owned American business," shows "American Owned" on its kit page and "U.S. Based Support" in its footer, and its logo spells USA in the stars and stripes. Y’allCanDIY’s store carries the same pair of badges, "American Owned" over "Proudly owned and operated" and "U.S. Based Support" over "Real help for real projects." The ixirpro and Magic Chems kit pages each carry an "American Owned" badge.

On Amazon the same idea sits in the brand stories. Kraken Bond’s calls it "a U.S.-based brand focused on high-performance adhesives, sealants, and expanding foam insulation for professionals and DIY users." None of those 5 says where its foam is made.

The kits that do say where they come from

TYTAN, BONDURE and Akfix answer the question directly. TYTAN’s Amazon listing gives "Country Of Origin: Poland," BONDURE’s ends a feature bullet with "Made in Türkiye.", and Akfix’s store calls Akfix "a registered trademark of Akkim Yapı Kimyasalları A.Ş., Turkey’s biggest PU Aerosol Foam and Silicone Sealant producer." Adhesive Guru’s Amazon brand story says "Born in Turkey, trusted globally," which is about the brand rather than a particular can. None of those four carries an American or US-based badge.

Where a kit’s documents name a company, it is a US supplier or distributor: who brings the product into the country and answers for it, which is not the same as where the foam is made. DAP’s sheet is the one that names a manufacturer, DAP Global Inc. of Baltimore, and it does not say where the can is filled either.

Where the country of origin is printed

US customs law, with some listed exceptions, requires an imported product to show the buyer its country of origin, on the article or on its container. On a spray foam kit that means the can or the box, and that is the place to check before the question is settled either way. A seller can also be asked directly, and one whose foam is made in the U.S. has every reason to print it.

What people ask after this one

Is BEEST spray foam made in the USA?

BEEST does not say where it is made. Its store calls BEEST USA "a family-owned American business" and its Amazon listing heads a bullet "AMERICAN FAMILY-OWNED WITH U.S.-BASED SUPPORT," which describe the company and its support team. None of its pages, listings, safety data sheet or quick start guide we read on October 18, 2026 names a country of manufacture or claims Made in USA, and its Amazon listing gives no country of origin.

What does American owned mean on a spray foam kit?

That the company selling it is owned by Americans. It says nothing about where the foam in the can was made, and the FTC treats the two apart: an unqualified Made in USA claim needs the product itself to be "all or virtually all" made in the U.S.

Does US-based support mean the product is made in the USA?

No. It means the people who answer questions about the product are in the U.S. A product made abroad can have an American support team, and the support line on a store is not a statement about the factory.

How can I find out where a spray foam kit is made?

Read the can or the box: US customs law, with some listed exceptions, requires an imported product to show its country of origin on the article or its container. If the label is not to hand before you buy, ask the seller, and treat a listing that names its seller’s nationality but not the product’s origin as having answered a different question.

Where the evidence comes from

From the job to the finished wall

Plan the job in five questions

  1. Where are you insulating?

A garage ceiling, a rim joist and a van wall each ask for a different foam, thickness and cover. Start with the job.

  2. What will it cost?

Board feet are the area times the thickness. Price the kits that cover them against hiring the job out.

  3. What do you need?

A kit, the gun and cleaner it works with, something to cover what stays clean, and the gear you wear.

  4. How do you do it?

Check the temperature, prepare the surface, spray in passes and cover the foam where people live.

  5. How long does it take?

The sheets give a tack-free time in minutes and a full cure in hours; only some say when people can go back in.
